This series of webinars is brought to you by the international partnership between inspire2coach (UK), ETC (Greece) and Trio Consult (Bulgaria).
The webinars explore how developing ball characteristics is a major part of the game skills needed when working with players in the 12 and under age groups.
As the players progress through the red, orange and green courts and balls, as they become physically bigger and stronger and as they develop more game skills and experience, their ability to control the outgoing ball characteristics becomes an increasingly important part of the game.

COURT: 30 September 2023
Learning outcomes
By the end of this webinar, you should:
1. understand the 5 ball characteristics, and the importance of understanding receiving and sending skills in tennis
2. understand the priority order in which to develop the different ball
characteristics on the red court, in relation to age, physical ability and coordination
3. have some ideas for simple activities to use on the red court to help young players develop early mastery of key ball characteristics

1. be reminded of the learning outcomes from webinar 2
2. understand how the increase in court size and compression and speed of the green ball, and the greater skill of the green player create both exciting opportunities and significant challenges for ball mastery
3. understand how the different ball characteristics can be developed to create and use key defensive patterns in matchplay
4. have some ideas for activities to use on the green court to help players develop mastery of key ball characteristics to develop the defensive game

WEBINAR 4 - THE YELLOW COURT - FIRST YEARS UNDER 12: 23rd December 2023

Learning outcomes

By the end of this webinar, you should:
1. be reminded of the learning outcomes from webinar 3
2. understand that although the court size remains the same, the change to the yellow ball creates a tough environment in which players have to compete
3. understand how the ball characteristics developed at earlier stages can be used and further developed to create and use key offensive and defensive patterns in matchplay
4. have some ideas for activities to use with 12 and under players to help them manoeuvre the ball in neutral, offensive and defensive situations in matchplay
